February 3rd, 2008 Ranjay Mitra Posted in Art, Photo Notes & Field guides, Photography, Writing 4 Comments »

The pressing need to help fellow photographers succeed in a small photography business made me start a new blog. I have gone through a similar phase quite early in my career in photography and I thought I could help answer many of the questions that keep coming my way.

.

You could read the new blog here and email me your suggestions and questions.

Northern California - Legend of the Big Foot

December 25th, 2007 Ranjay Mitra Posted in Art, Conservation, D200, Photo Notes & Field guides, Photography, Travel No Comments »

From: photoduniya.com

I had been up to Trinidad in Northern California this past weekend. Traveling from San Jose took about 6 hours amidst the fog, rain and winds. Quite unusual to my usual travel bag, this time all I had was my Nikon D200. Most of my stuff were already packed for the upcoming big-drive! I had to stop at an en-route Ritz Camera to pick up a Lexar 2 GB Card.

While I shall write about this short trip to the Avenue of Giants, the one colorful stop we made close to Garberville on Highway 101 is a roadside shop of chainsaw woodwork. Names “Legend of the Big Foot”, this has small to large wood carvings and miniature birds and animals. If you are on the way, do stop by to see a big-foot replica too.

With Christmas round the corner, and San Francisco decked up in Santa Clauses and the colors of Macy, Mitchel is back with his Carols. And he could sing the noel in English, Spanish and in French. For the most part though Mitchel was singing in French.
