This is an impressionistic view of a rose taken with the Nikon FM3A. I have taken 3 exposures of the same flower from 3 different sides on one single slide to create this impression.
The first shot was taken with an exposure of -1/3 & spot metered on the flower. The subject was lit from behind (that is, my camera was facing the low afternoon light). In fact, the brightly lit area on the top left corner of the image is the sun!
The sun rays illuminated the thin rose petals & showed through flower. If I had metered on the bright areas, I would have had very less details on the flower. I spot metered on the flower stem so that the background washed out.
The second shot was taken from the side at -2/3 exposure while the third shot was taken with the sun behind me, again at about -2/3 exposure. The bokeh that you see in the background is from the shot I had with the sun behind me.
